Forty years on the same street, doing the same job carefully
Margaret Ashby opened Ashgrove in 1984 with one vehicle and a promise: tell families the truth, tell them the price, and be there when they ring. Her daughter Ella and Sanjay Rao now run the firm with her from the same townhouse on Ashgrove Road. We arrange around three hundred funerals a year, which is enough to be good at it and few enough to know every family by name.

Nothing hidden
Every price is on our website and on the estimate you sign. Our fees and the third-party costs are listed separately, and the final bill matches the estimate unless you change something.
Nothing rushed
There is no decision that has to be made on the day someone dies. We will bring your person into our care and then wait, for as long as you need, before we talk about anything else.
Plain language
We say cremation, coffin and cost, not passing, casket and investment. You will never have to ask what we meant.

A written estimate, with our fees and third-party costs shown separately, before you agree to anything at all.
One person throughout
The director who takes your first call arranges the funeral, conducts it, and is the person you ring afterwards.
